The University of Hong Kong University Health Service @ Sassoon Road (UHS@SR) is operated by the LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) to expand the primary care capacity of the University Health Service and provide an alternative site for HKU members, and added convenience for those who reside nearby or work at the Sassoon Road campus.
UHS@SR is located within the HKU Health System Clinical Centre on the 2nd floor of the Academic Building at No. 3 Sassoon Road. It provides outpatient-based clinical services to all eligible members of the University, mirroring those offered at the UHS Clinic @ Main Campus (UHS@MC).
Continuity of care at UHS@SR and UHS@MC
Patients attending the UHS@SR will be required, at the time of appointment making, to provide explicit consent for their clinical data and patient information stored at the UHS@MC accessible to staff members of the UHS@SR. Additionally, any clinical data and patient information generated after your visit to UHS@SR will be made available to staff members of the UHS@MC, those ensuring continuity of patient care at both sites.
Clinical operations at UHS@SR
While the UHS@SR operates independently from UHS@MC, every effort has been made to ensure a consistent standard of care across the two clinics. For instance:
(i) Fees & Medications: Routine consultations and standard medications are free-of-charge for eligible members. For self-funded treatments or items requiring a co-payment, the fee structures and medication quality are identical to UHS@MC.
(ii) Medical Networks: Both clinics share the same network of specialist referrals, laboratory services, and medical imaging providers.
However, there are no physiotherapy or dental services at UHS@SR at the moment. Also, UHS@SR currently do not provide special services including (i) occupational health assessment, (ii) HKU new employee health assessment, (iii) Wellness Clinic / Well Women Clinic, and (iv) travel health clinic. In terms of medical procedures, UHS@SR currently do not provide Cryotherapy. HKU members in need of these services and procedure shall visit UHS@MC instead.
Teaching & Research activities at UHS@SR
As an HKUMed teaching clinic, UHS@SR regularly conducts clinical training and medical research:
(i) Clinical Training: With your permission, authorised HKU clinical students may observe or participate in your consultation and services. Our medical staff may also discuss your case with students on-site as part of their educational training.
(ii) Medical Research: To help advance healthcare innovation, anonymised patient data (with all personally identifiable information strictly removed) may be made available to HKU researchers.
Your participation in both teaching and research activities is entirely voluntary and subject to your explicit consent.
